Occhi belli e che sarà
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Occhi belli e che sarà
del mio duol, del foco mio?
Ben lo so, ve lo dich’io
ch’in eterno durerà.
Cruda stella m’influì
il soffrire ed il penare
senza mai poter sperare
di goder sereno un dì.
Fra pianti e lamenti,
fra pene e tormenti,
sospirando,
lacrimando,
in eterno viverò/morirò.
Così fra morte e vita,
mal vivo provarò,
doglia infinita.
Toglietemi di vita,
o miei fieri tormenti,
già che non m’è permesso
da due stelle lucenti
sperar al mio dolor pietade o aita;
e quest’alma tradita
e questo core oppresso
ricevete pietose,
o spietate d’Averno alme dogliose,
che fora il vostro duol forse minore
di quel che prova il mio trafitto core.
È troppo al mio penar fiera la sorte
né dar vita mi può, se non la morte.
