by Wilhelm Vogel (1772 - 1843)

Jüngst hört' ich welchen süßen Lohn
Language: German (Deutsch)
Jüngst hört' ich welchen süßen Lohn
den Kriegs - und Waidgesellen
verheissen Deines Liedes Ton,
das ließ die Brust mir schwellen.
In Feld und Wald hinaus,
verlassend Herd und Haus,
wie fröhlich wär' ich fortgezogen,
wenn huldreich Du mir würdest dann gewogen.

Dann nähm' ich mit mir zum Geleit
das Echo Deiner Lieder.
Es klingt der süße Schall
noch heut' in meinem Herzen wieder.
Und all mein Leben lang
bewahr' ich diesen Klang,
als Du versprachst in holden Tönen,
dass Liebe soll die Treue krönen.
