Wie einsam winzig, verloren;
Ein [ruhelos]1 Sehnen treibt uns umher,
Doch stumm nur sind wir geboren.

Und ob das Geheimnis der Tiefe wir sah'n,
Wir bergen das Rätsel, wir Wellen,
Wir ziehen als schweigende Boten die Bahn
