«Kehr' wieder, lieber Sonnenschein!
Kehr' wieder, heitre Bläue!
Daß ich mich armes Vögelein
Noch einmal wieder freue.

Wie war mir sonst so lieb der Wald,
So lieb das Dach der Blätter!
Jetzt ist es ringsum trüb' und kalt,
Bei Wind und Regenwetter.»

So klagt das arme Vögelein
Bei jedem Regenschauer,
Schläft Abends spät in Trauer ein,
Wacht Morgens auf in Trauer.
