by Johannes Ewald (1743 - 1781)

Udrust dig, helt fra Golgata
Language: Danish (Dansk)
 Udrust dig, helt fra Golgata!
 Løft højt dit røde skjold,
thi synd og død, - du ser det, ja, -
 angriber mig med vold.

Løft højt dit glavind i din harm
 mod dem, som trodse dig!
nedstyrt dem med en vældig arm
fra lyset - og fra mig.

Da skal jeg, sikker ved din hånd,
 ej frygte døden mer,
men ofre dig min frelste ånd
 på dens nedbrudte ler.

Hjertesuk:
Herre! forund mig lise og ro,
men revser du mig med smerte,
da lær mig at tale - at bede - at tro,
 og Jesus opfylde mit hjerte.
