by Bertel Gripenberg (1878 - 1947)

Vid dammen
Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Nu brinner aftonhimlen röd,
nu sorlar svagt kaskaden,
nu går en susning vek och spröd
igenom tårpilsbladen.
I fjärran tystnar lifvets larm
ifrån den mörka staden,
och dammen speglar mörk och varm
den höga poppelraden.

Din blick i drömmar fjärran går,
din hand i min du glömmer.
Ett gyllne skimmer kring ditt hår
det röda ljuset tömmer.
En gyllne skatt i djupens natt
det svarta vattnet gömmer.
Hos dig, när dagen domnar matt,
jag gyllne drömmar drömmer.
