by Robert Hamerling (1830 - 1889)

Weiche, sel'ge Schwüle wittert
Language: German (Deutsch)
Weiche, sel'ge Schwüle wittert
Wonnehauchend durchs Gemach hin,
Und von Herz zu Herzen zittert
Sehnsuchtsvoll ein glühn'des Ach hin!

Und ich kühle meine schwüle
Stirn an deinem duft'gen Locken,
Deines Busens weichem Pfühle,
Deiner Wange Blütenflocken;

Kühle sie -- ob auch zusammen
Flamme hier und Flamme fluten:
Liebe kühlt sich ja in Flammen,
Stirbt beseligt nur in Gluten!

Und ein Phönix ist die Liebe:
Wie er stirbt und lebt Äonen,
Sterben und ersteh'n die Triebe
In der Wonne Glutenzonen!
