possibly by Friedrich von Gerstenberg and possibly by Heinrich (Hans) Wilhelm von Gerstenberg (1737 - 1823)

Der Fernen
Language: German (Deutsch)
So viel Blumen allwärts blühen,
so viel Sterne leuchtend glühen,
so viel Worte send' ich dir
mit den Wolken in die Ferne,
und du hörst sie deutlich gerne,
und verstehst mich für und für.

Wie die Sterne lautlos ziehen,
wie die Blumen still verblühen,
zieht mein Herz durchs Leben hin,
nur allein von dir verstanden,
der für ewig still Erkannten,
gleich an Geiste, Herz und Sinn!

Schlaf' ich einst im Bergeslande,
und du schläfst am Meeresstrande,
trennt der Tod als dann auch noch
unsern Staub. So wie im Leben,
wird verklärt die Liebe schweben
im Vereine jenseits doch!
