Das Herz, das ist ein närrisch Ding
Und plagt uns allezeit,
Bald sitzt es nicht am rechten Fleck,
Bald ist es viel zu weit!

Oft geht es falsch und nicht im Takt
Und ohne Fehler keins,
Jedoch das beste in der Welt,
Das ist, Geliebte, deins!

Das ist so rein und schlägt so treu
In Liebe, Schmerz und Glück!
Und freuen wird der Herrgott sich,
Bekommt er's einst zurück!
