Die Thräne
Language: German (Deutsch)
[Schäme]1 Dich der Thräne nicht,
Wenn sie Dir in's Auge tritt,
Treu sagt sie in's Angesicht,
Was wohl manches Herz schon litt.

Ach, zerdrück' die Thräne nicht,
Die Dir aus dem Auge scheint!
Immer ist es Schlimmes nicht,
Wenn ein menschlich Auge weint.

Spotte jener Thräne nicht,
Die dem Auge heiß entquoll;
Auch ein Männerherz, das bricht,
Macht ein Aug' oft thränenvoll.

Doch vergiß der Thränen nicht,
Die Dein Heiland einst geweint;
Denn sein blutend Angesicht
So thränenreich für Dich erscheint.
