by Christian Konrad Schad (1821 - 1871)

Ein Reiher wandert im Abendroth
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ein Reiher wandert im Abendroth
Mit seinem einsam wilden Schrei,
Und drunten liegt der stille Wald,
Den fröstelt bei der Melodei.

"Du ziehst in's Land, wo die Traube sprießt
Und an dem Stab voll Lenzlust weint,
Derweil mich friert in's tiefste Herz,
Und kaltes Nordlicht auf mich scheint.

"Bis daß du wieder kommst in's Land,
Viel Laub am Boden findest du fahl;
Ich hülle mich in tiefen Schnee --
Ade, ade viel tausendmal!"
