Abendständchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Lautlos ist der Tag vergangen;
Süßes Liebchen, gute Nacht!
Tausend goldne Sternlein prangen
Lichterglüht in stiller Pracht.
Süß Gewähren, hold Versagen,
In den Blumen flüstert's lind,
Und die Nachtigallen schlagen:
Schlumm're sanft, du holdes Kind!

Heißes Sehnen, süß Verlangen,
Liebesgruß aus Feld und Hain,
Sehnsuchtsthränen auf den Wangen,
Träumt die Erd' im Mondenschein.
Schlaf',  du Traumbild meiner Seele,
Gib dem Wunsch des Liebsten Raum,
Und in deinen Schlummer stehle
Sich mein Lied als süßer Traum!

Confirmed with Unser Dichter in Wort und Bild, Zweiter Band Leipzig: R. Claußner, 1893, pages 111 - 112.
