by Emanuel von Geibel (1815 - 1884)

Oftmals, wenn ich ganz allein
Language: German (Deutsch)
Oftmals, wenn ich ganz allein
Brüte nachtumgeben,
Fließt's wie sanfter Mondenschein
Plötzlich in mein Leben.

Jeden Druck, den ich empfand
Schmerzlich und beklommen,
Fühl' ich wie von Engelshand
Sacht hinweggenommen.

Süßer Jugendschauer quillt
Über mein Gemüte,
Und es dehnt sich tief gestillt,
Wie im Tau die Blüte.

Staunend sinn' ich, was geschehn,
So den Schmerz zu bannen?
Dieses Friedens himmlisch Wehn,
Dieser Glanz, von wannen?

Und ein Ahnen will zuletzt
In mein Herz sich senken,
Daß geliebte Tote jetzt
Drüben mein gedenken.
