Draußen ist es dunkel, und kein Stern ist wach,
Doch welch ein Gefunkel füllt hier das Gemach?
Seht, zu uns hernieder stiegen Engel hold,
Hell ist ihr Gefieder wie das reinste Gold.
Gleich dem Licht der Sonne blendet es den Blick,
Und des Himmels Wonne strahlen sie zurück,
Mit den vollen Händen schmücken sie das Haus,
Theilen reiche Spenden überschwänglich aus.
Heil dem schönen Feste dieser heil'gen Nacht,
Das uns solche Gäste, solchen Glanz gebracht!
