by Alexander Duncker (1813 - 1897)

Vorbei
Language: German (Deutsch)
An dem kleinen Fenster stand sie,
Als ich schüchtern ging vorbei;
Bunte Blumen lächelnd wand sie
In dem Wonnemonat Mai,

Blickte grüßend zu mir nieder,
Als ich schüchtern ging vorbei.
Und beseligt grüßt' ich wieder
In dem Wonnemonat Mai.

Jahre kamen, Jahre gingen
Jener schönen Zeit vorbei,
Doch dem Glücklichen nur bringen
Sie den Wonnemonat Mai.

An dem kleinen Fenster sind nun
Gruß und Küsse längst vorbei,
Und es geht des Herbstes Wind nun
Ueber meines Lebens Mai.
