by Gustav Gerstel (1844 - 1889)

Bester Trost
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wenn dir so recht beklommen ist,
Wenn Alles, Alles dich verlassen,
Und keine Worte, Thränen nur
Dein bitt'res Leiden in sich fassen:

So fliehe, wo kein Blick dich sieht,
Wo du geschützt vor jedem Lauschen,
Dort wird dein tief verwundet Herz
Für heiße Thränen Friede tauschen!

Und wenn du tausend Freunde hast,
Die alle dich zu trösten meinen, --
Am besten ist's, so recht allein
Am Herzensgrund sich auszuweinen!

Confirmed with Gedichte von Gustav Gerstel, München: Georg Franz'schen Buchhandlung, 1866. Appears in Vermischte Gedichte, pages 14 - 15.
