Ein einzig Sternlein in den Höhn
Language: German (Deutsch)

Ein einzig Sternlein in den Höhn--
Wie lachst du, arme Heide,
Mich an so frisch, so wunderschön,
Dich, arme Heide, segnen!

A single little star on high
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
A single little star on high --
How, poor heath, do you smile at me
As freshly, as wondrously beautifully
As the greenest pasture would!
A single little rose, brightly enflamed
After long, anxious waiting.--
Enchanted, you immediately awoke
To the most beautiful of gardens!
A single, quiet sound of a bell
There from the distant acclivity--
Immediately all the birds sing cozily
To me as in the greenest forest!
And in gratitude my song must anew
Bless you, you poor heath!
How, so gently and faithfully, God knows
To commune with the two of us!
