Kühleborn: Es wohnt' am Seegestade ein armes Fischerpaar, der Eltern höchste Freude ein holdes Mägdlein war. Am grünen Uferrande mit ihm die Mutter ruht, da plötzlich sank das Mägdlein hinunter in die Flut. Doch rettend naht ein Engel, und tragt es an das Land, wo bald ein edler Herzog das Mägdlein schlafend fand. O armes Kind, noch zart und klein, was wird dein einstig Schicksal sein? Als Herzogtochter ehrt man die Jungfrau weit und breit. Doch ihre Tugend führet nur Hochmut im Geleit. Von Glanz und Hoheit träumend, von Zepter nur und Kron' - in Wahrheit sich ihr zeiget alsbald ein Königsthron. Doch plötzlich reißt der Schleier, und alles wird bekannt, daß sie ein Fischermädchen und nur aus niedrem Stand.
