und der bewegten Staud' entstürzt gleich Hagelschau'r die lock're Frucht.

sieht er sein Liebchen nah'n, und ihrem Tritt entgegen,

Guardate come i giovani vanno veloci verso la macchia dei noccioli!
L'allegra schiera dei bimbi si lancia verso ogni ramo,
e scuotendo le fronde fa cadere come grandine i frutti maturi.

Qui il giovane contadino appoggia, lungo l'alto fusto,
la scala. Dalla cima dell'albero, che lo nasconde,
osserva la sua bella che si avvicina, e sul cammino di lei,
in scherzo amichevole fa volare noci rotonde.

Nel giardino, attorno a ogni albero, stanno fanciulle grandi e piccine,
fresche nel viso come i frutti che raccolgono.
