Liebeslied

Language: German (Deutsch)

Solang, ach! schon solang erfüllt
Ein Bild, ein liebes Engelsbild,
So hold, so sanft, so schön, so zart,
Dies Herz, das immer hofft und harrt.

Oft strebt es auf in stiller Nacht,
Oft hätt' es mich fast umgebracht;
Es liebt so treu, es liebt so rein
Und soll umsonst so zärtlich sein!

Es kämpft und ringt in sich so sehr:
Es stürmt und tobt, wie's wilde Meer;
Nur Linderung, nur Trost, nur Ruh,
Ach! niemand bringt ihm Hilfe zu.

Getrost! du liebeskrankes Herz!
Getrost! bald endigt sich dein Schmerz,
Bald schickt der Himmel Ruh herab
Und schließt dich ein ins kühle Grab.

Liefdeslied

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Zo lang, ach, al zo lang doorspeelt
Een beeld, een lieflijk eng’lenbeeld,
Zo leuk, zo teer, zo mooi, zo zacht,
Dit hart, dat steeds maar hoopt en wacht.

Vaak speelt het op in stille nacht,
Vaak heeft het mij haast omgebracht;
Het is zo trouw, bemint zo rein,
En moet vergeefs zo teder zijn!

Het vecht en worstelt, slaat op tilt,
Het stormt en raast, geen zee zo wild;
Verlichting wil ‘t, slechts rust en troost,
Ach, niemand die ’t naar redding loodst.

Getroost, jij liefdeszieke hart!
Getroost, dra eindigt al jouw smart,
Dra zendt de hemel vrede neer
En krijg je rust, je leeft niet meer.
