Zauberkreis

Was steht denn auf den hundert Blättern
Der Rose all?
Was sagt denn tausendfaches Schmettern
Der Nachtigall?

Auf allen Blättern steht, was stehet
Auf einem Blatt;
Aus jedem [Lied]¹ weht, was gewehet
Im ersten hat:

Daß Schönheit in sich [selbst]² beschrieben
Hat einen Kreis,
Und keinen andern auch das Lieben
Zu finden weiss.

Drum kreist um sich mit hundert Blättern
Die Rose all,
Und um sie tausendfaches Schmettern
Der Nachtigall.

Toverkring

Wat staat er op de honderd blaadjes
Der roos zo al?
Wat zegt het duizendvoudig slaan van
De nachtegaal?
 
Op alle blaadjes staat wat staat op
Een enkel blad;
En ieder lied zingt wat gezongen
Het eerste had:
 
Dat schoonheid, in zichzelf beschreven,
Creëert een kring,
En dat niets anders ook de liefde
Kent dan zo’n ring.
 
Dus schept een ban met honderd blaadjes
De roos totaal,
En om haar ‘t duizendvoudig slaan van
De nachtegaal.
