You can help us modernize! The present website has been online for a very long time and we want to bring it up to date. As of May 6, we are $2,380 away from our goal of $15,000 to fund the project. The fully redesigned site will be better for mobile, easier to read and navigate, and ready for the next decade. Please give today to join dozens of other supporters in making this important overhaul possible!

O daß du wardst hinweggenommen

Language: German (Deutsch)

O daß du wardst hinweggenommen,
Zu kehren nimmermehr zurück!
Von einem Meere fortgeschwommen
Ist seitdem all mein, all mein Glück!

Vergebens blick' ich nach dem fernen
Azurnen Himmel, rufend dir.

Azuren hemel, roepend jou.
‘k Zou ‘t heerlijk vinden!
Maar ach, van hem niet één geluid.
De vogels zingen bonte wijzen,
Uit bronnen klinkt wat streelt en schrijnt.
Zij spreken. O, ik zou hen prijzen,
Als ‘k hoorde maar, waar hij verschijnt.
De sterren zingen, winden dragen
Zo veel geluid door bos en veld,
Maar wil men naar de dode vragen,
Door de natuur wordt niets verteld.
