Under himlens purpurbrand
Ligga tysta sjö och land,
Det är gryningsstunden.
Snöig gren och frostvit kvist
Tecka sig så segervisst
Mot den röda grunden.

Riddarn står vid fönsterkarm,
Lyssnar efter stridens larm,
Trampar golvets tilja.
Men en smal och snövit hand
Kyler milt hans pannas brand,
Böjer mjukt hans vilja.tenderly 

Riddarn sätter horn till mun,
Blåser vilt I gryningsstund,
Över nejd som tiger.
Tonen klingar, klar och spröd,
Branden slocknar, gyllenröd,
Solen sakta stiger.

Lever de soleil

Sous l'incendie pourpre du ciel
S'étendent la mer et la terre,
C'est l'heure du crépuscule.
Branches enneigées et rameaux givrés
S'agitent sûrs de la victoire
Sur un fond rouge.

Un chevalier se tient à la fenêtre,
Il entend le branle bas de combat,
Il piétine les lattes du plancher.
Mais une petite main blanche comme neige
Rafraîchit son front brûlant,
Fléchit gentiment sa résolution.

Un chevalier porte la corne à sa bouche,
Y souffle fort à l'heure du crépuscule,
Au-dessus de la campagne silencieuse.
L'appel résonne, clair et grêle,
L'incendie s'affaiblit, orangé,
Le soleil se lève doucement.
