Spätes Glück
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG FRE
Es hat ein Blümchen Tag für Tag
Sich nach dem Licht gereckt,
Die liebe Sonne fand es nicht,
War gar zu tief versteckt.

Erst, als der Sichel blanker Stahl
Die Gräser rings gemäht,
Hat's warm der Sonnenschein geküßt --
War aber viel zu spät!

Bonheur tardif
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Il est une fleur qui jour après jour
Se dresse vers la lumière,
Le soleil chéri ne l'a pas trouvée,
Elle trop profondément cachée.

Mais quand le luisant acier de la faucille
Eut coupé les herbes tout autour,
La chaude lumière du soleil l'embrassa ;
Mais il était bien trop tard !
