Soll ein Schuh nicht drücken,
muß man sich anschicken,
und überall das erste Mal
sich selber hinbemühen
ihn an den Fuß zu ziehen,
denn oft fehlts an Geduld,
den Schuh recht anzufassen,
den Fuß darein zu passen.
Doch hat der Meister Schuld,
voraus bei einer Frau,
die will nur sehr genau,
den Fuß im Schuhe rühren,
und doch, mit Gunst 
dabei kein Drücken spüren;
das fodert Kunst.
Er sei bequem, je doch nicht weit,
hübsch spitzig und nur ja nicht breit,
und doch, mit Gunst,
hätts Not, daß man zuweilen
den Fuß erst dürfte feilen.

Une chaussure ne doit pas serrer,
On doit se préparer,
et par dessus tout la première fois
s'efforcer
de la tirer sur le pied
car souvent on manque de patience
pour manipuler la chaussure correctement
pour y mettre le pied.
Mais c'est la faute du maître
surtout si c'est une femme,
qui veut seulement
le pied dans la chaussure pour bouger
et pourtant par faveur
ne ressentir aucune pression,
cela requiert de l'adresse.
Elle doit être confortable, mais pas trop grande,
joliment pointue, mais en aucun cas trop large,
et pourtant par faveur,
en cas de besoin, on devrait parfois
d'abord limer les pieds,
cela requiert de l'adresse.
