Komm mit!

Language: German (Deutsch)

Komm mit!
Mußt dich aber eilen -
Sieben lange Meilen
Mach ich mit jedem Schritt.
Hinter Wald und Hügel
Steht mein rotes Roß.
Komm mit! Ich fasse die Zügel
- Komm mit in mein rotes Schloß.
Dort wachsen blaue Bäume
Mit goldenen Äpfeln dran,
Dort träumen wir silberne Träume,
Die kein Mensch sonst träumen kann.
Dort schlummern seltne Genüsse,
Die noch kein Mensch genoß,
Unter Lorbeern purpurne Küsse
- Komm mit über Wald und Hügel!
Halt fest! Ich fasse die Zügel,
Und zitternd entführt dich mein rotes Roß.

Come with me!

Language: English after the German (Deutsch)

Come with me!
But you must hasten -
Seven long miles
I take with every step.
Behind forest and hill
My red steed stands.
Come with me! I grasp the reins
- Come along into my red castle.
There blue trees grow,
Bearing golden apples,
There we shall dream silvery dreams
That no one but we can dream.
There slumber rare pleasures
That no human has yet tasted,
Under the laurels [slumber] purple kisses
- Come along over forest and hill!
Hold tight! I grasp the reins,
And, trembling, my red steed abducts you.
