An keinem Ort in Persien ersteht der holde Frühling so blühend aus der Erde. Seltsam! Die Blumen duften auf dem Grabe von Hafis ganz anders als sonst im Land. Sie riechen festlich und freudig, die Sinne so fein berauschend! Das ist kein Duft nach Blumen, das ist ein süßer Weinduft.

Sous les murs de Chiraz près de la belle Mosella le poète repose. En aucun lieu de Perse les rossignols ne chantent avec plus de suavité. En aucun lieu de Perse le doux printemps n'entr' ouvre plus de brillants calices. Étrange! Les parfumes montent de la tombe du poète plus forts qu'en tout autre lieu. Et leur odeur fait defaillir le coeur de ceux qui la respirent. Ce n'est pas le parfum des fleurs, c'est le parfum de l'hydromel.
