Ruhe

Wie lange ist das her, daß ich gelebt?
Doch starb ich nicht.
Denn vor mir liegt die Welt im goldnen Licht.
Und alles ist so, ist so, wie es immer war.
Ich selber hingestreckt am Waldrand.
Mein grüner Berghang.
Das stumme Bächlein.
Der junge Mähder, der die Sense wiegt.
Und drunten tief endloses gelbes Korn.
Und alles, alles blieb so, wie es immer war...
Und alles, alles wird so bleiben, wie es ist.
Denn diese Sonne kann nicht untergehn.
Aus diesem Korne wird kein Brot gebacken.
In keine Krippe wird dies Heu geworfen.
Und dieser gute Junge wird nie wandern in's frohe Dörfchen...
