Laggiù nella valle, si stende un manto vermiglio!
Tutto freme nel giardino, tutto canta e la tua finestra,
come uno sguardo gioioso, è piena di sole!

Intorno ai lillà dai ciuffi violetti,
mosche e farfalle ronzano insieme
e il mughetto selvaggio, scuote le sue campanule,
e sveglia l'amore addormentato nei boschi!
 
Poiché l'aprile ha seminato le sue margherite bianche,
lascia il tuo mantello pesante e il  manicotto timoroso,
già l'uccello ti chiama e le pervinche, tue sorelle,
ti sorrideranno nell'erba vedendo i tuoi occhi blu!

Vieni, partiamo! al mattino, la fonte è più limpida;
svegliati! vieni, partiamo! Non attendiamo gli ardori caldi del giorno; 
voglio bagnare i miei piedi nella rugiada umida,
e parlarti d'amore sotto gli alberi in fiore.
