Des Narren Nachtlied

Language: German (Deutsch)

In der Nacht, in der Nacht, heidideldumdei!
Sing, sing, süße Geige, und lache, Schalmei!
In der Nacht gibt's Wunderwerk mancherlei.
Wollt ihr eins hören?

O Sterne, o Stille, o mondliche Pracht!
Wer hat in den tieftiefen Wald mich gebracht?
An den schwarzen See in der schaurigen Nacht?
Kalt wehen die Winde.

Krank bin ich und müde, und hier steh ich nackt.
Zwei Arme haben mich rauh gepackt;
Es hämmern die Spechte in gräßlichem Takt.
Da lieg ich am Boden.

Zwei Männer in Larven sind über mir her.
Sie graben mich ein. Die Erde ist schwer.
Des Windes Wehen hör ich nicht mehr.
Allalles ist stille.
