Ich will bis in die Sterne Die Fahne der Liebe tragen; Sie soll auf einer Wolke Ob sämmtlichen Himmeln ragen. Ich will im hohen Äther Anstimmen erhabne Lieder, Will rühmend eine Pauke Unendlicher Ehre schlagen. Orion und Plejade Sie sollen im Tanze kreisen, Und Sohre freudig horchend Das eigene Spiel vertagen. Tief unter mir die Wüsten, Die sandigen, ungeheuern, Sie sollen blüh'n und grünen Gleich himmlischen Rosenhagen. "Warum, Hafis?" so fragst du. Wie magst du so thöricht fragen? Es lächelte mir die Freundin, Es endeten alle Klagen.
