Es kam ein Sturm bei Nacht Und blies die Flamme meiner Liebe aus. Zur trüben Totenwacht Sitz' ich allein im dunklen, kalten Haus. Wie herrlich sie gelobt! Entzündet hatte sie des Himmels Blitz. Aufschlug sie goldigrot Und reckte sich zu der Gestirne Sitz. Ein Sturmwind kam bei Nacht Und blies und löschte mir den edlen Schein. Ich halte Totenwacht: Bald werde ich auch ruhn und Asche sein.
