Wär' ich Meister Phidias, Formt' ich deine holden Glieder. Käm' Apoll auch vom Parnaß Voller Neid in mein Gelaß, Dich nur schüf' ich immer wieder. Wär' ich Meister Zebaoth, Macht' ich dich zum Lieblingsengel; Morgenrot und Abendrot Dienten dir auf mein Gebot, Und das Milchstraßengeschlängel. Da ich nur ein Dichter bin, Noch dazu ein unverlegter, Droht Verlust dir statt Gewinn, Tritt ein Bettler vor dich hin, Und ein Herz von dannen trägt er.
