en yngling sidder og ser derpå.
Men som han på de blomster ser,
to pigeøjne derude ler;
så skønne blomster han aldrig så;
to martsvioler så smukke blå.
Isblomsten smelter ved kindens brand.

Le ciel se voûte si pur et clair,
Une fleur de givre est là
Sur la vitre, si belle dans le soleil flamboyant,
Vient un jeune homme qui la voit.
Mais alors qu'il regarde la fleur,
Au‑dehors, deux yeux de fille rient ;
De si belles fleurs, il n'avait jamais vu,
Deux violettes de mars d'un si beau bleu.
Le feu de ses joues fait fondre la fleur de givre,
Puisse Notre Seigneur aider le jeune homme !
