Sommerfäden
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Der Sommer tollt ums Haus!
Er hascht sich mit dem Winde,
Der zupft dem schönen Kinde
Manch goldnes Härchen aus.
In hocherhobner Hand
Läßt er die Beute wehen --
Ich kann sie blitzen sehen,
Bald hier, bald dort im Land.
Ein Märlein fällt mir ein . .
Ach, daß die goldnen Schlingen
Mir meinen Liebsten fingen --
Wie wollt' ich selig sein!

Gossamer threads
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Summer is frolicking about the house!
Playing tag with the wind;
From the lovely child [the wind]
Plucks many a golden hair.
In its raised hand
It lets the spoils blow --
I can see them sparkling,
Now here, now there in the land.
I am reminded of a fairy-tale . .
Ah, that the golden snares
Would catch my dearest one --
How blissfully happy I would be!
