Grablied für die Mutter

Language: German (Deutsch)

Hauche milder, Abendluft,
Klage sanfter, Philomele,
Eine schöne, engelreine Seele
Schläft in dieser Gruft.

Bleich und stumm am düstern Rand
Steht der Vater mit dem Sohne,
Denen ihres Lebens schönste Krone
Schnell mit ihr verschwand.

Und sie weinen in die Gruft,
Aber ihrer Liebe Zähren
Werden sich zum Perlenkranz verklären,
Wenn der Engel ruft.

Graflied voor moeder

Language: Dutch (Nederlands) after the German (Deutsch)

Adem lichter, avondstond,
Klaag wat zachter, Philomele1,
Want een engel, diep betreurd door velen,
Slaapt in deze grond.

Naast het graf, bleek, stom als steen,
Staat een jongen met zijn vader,
Van wie plots de kroon en levensader
Snel, snel met haar verdween.

Zie, hun oog is nu een wel,
Maar de tranen die nu dalen
Zullen als een parelkrans gaan stralen
Bij het laatst appèl.
