Blumenlesen
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Mittelhochdeutsch
Available translation(s): ENG
Wo doch so lieblich manch Stimmlein erklang,

Gathering flowers
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Wintry storms have now conquered the world.
The colours of forest and heath have long paled,
Where once many a little voice rang out so sweetly
When the little girls used to play along the roads.
When, oh when, shall the birds' songs return?
If I could only sleep the winter away!
When I am awake in wintertime it pains me
That [winter] reigns far and wide.
But finally May will be victorious.
Then I shall gather flowers where snow now falls.
