Rechenstunde
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG FRE
Du bist so ein kleines Mädchen
Und hast schon so helle Augen;
Du bist so ein kleines Mädchen
Und hast schon so rote Lippen!

Nun schau mich nur an, du Kleine,
Auch ich hab helle Augen,
Und laß dir alles deuten -
Auch ich hab rote Lippen.

Nun rechne mir doch zusammen:
Vier Augen, die geben? - Blicke!
Und - mach mir keinen Fehler! -
Vier Lippen, die geben? - Küsse!

Arithmetic lesson
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
You are such a young maiden
And already have such bright eyes;
You are such a young maiden
And already have such red lips!

Now just look at me, you [sweet] little thing,
I, too, have bright eyes,
And let everything be explained to you --
I, too, have red lips.

Now add these up for me:
Four eyes, they add up to? -- Glances!
And -- now don't make any mistakes! --
Four lips, they add up to? -- Kisses!
