Wach auf!

Language: German (Deutsch)

Was stehst du [bange]1
Und sinnest nach?
Ach! schon so lange
Ist Liebe wach.

Hörst du das Klingen
Die Vöglein singen
Mit süßem Schall.

Aus Starrem sprießet
Baumblättlein weich,
Das Leben fließet
Um Ast und Zweig.

Das Tröpflein schlüpfet
Aus Waldesschacht,
Das Bächlein hüpfet
Mit Wallungsmacht.

Der Himmel neiget
In's Wellenklar,
Die Bläue zeiget
Sich wunderbar.

Ein heit'res [Schmiegen]2
Zu Form und Klang,
Ein ew'ges Fügen
Im ew'gen Drang!

Was stehst du bange
Und sinnest nach?
Ach! schon so lange
Ist Liebe wach.

1 In many editions of the Spohr setting, the typo "lange" appears here but not in the final stanza. This is corrected in the Dohr edition. Folker Göthel writes about this mistake in Thematisch-Bibliographies Verzeichnis der Werke von Louis Spohr, Tutzing/Germany, 1981, p. 506 (with thanks to Michael Leinert for the information). It is not in the original poem.
2 Spohr: "Schwingen"

Do que você tem medo,
E por que tão pensativo?
Oh, há muito tempo
O amor está desperto.

Você está ouvindo os sons
Por todos os lugares?
Os pássaros cantam
Em doces melodias.

Da rigidez florescem
Macias as folhas das árvores,
A vida flui
Por troncos e galhos.

Uma gotinha surge
Das reentrâncias da floresta,
O riacho salta
Com força abundante.

O céu se curva
Diante da lucidez das ondas;
O azul se mostra

Um florir animado
Em direção a formas e sons;
Eterna união
Em eterno desejo!

Do que você tem medo,
E por que tão pensativo?
Oh, há muito tempo
O amor está desperto.
