You can help us modernize! The present website has been online for a very long time and we want to bring it up to date. As of April 20, we are $4,600 away from our goal of $15,000 to fund the project. The fully redesigned site will be better for mobile, easier to read and navigate, and ready for the next decade. Please give today and join dozens of other supporters in making this important renovation possible!

Auf der Haide ist ein Platz

Language: German (Deutsch)

Auf der Haide [ist]1 ein Platz
wo im Mai mein lieber Schatz
einmal bei mir saß!
Hinter'm Busch die Amsel rief,
wilde Rosen hingen tief
in's betaute Gras.

Leise sprach er, und ich wand
einen Kranz mit scheuer Hand,
blickte bang zu Tal;
aber näher neigt' er sich,
hob mein Haupt und küßte mich,
ach, zum ersten Mal!

O wie war der Tag so licht!
Und ich, Armes, wehrt' ihm nicht,
ließ es still gescheh'n!
Doch den Kranz in trunk'nem Traum
hängt ich in den Fliederbaum,
der uns zugeseh'n.

Erste Lieb', du gehst vorbei,
schneller als ein Sturm im Mai,
bleibst kein treuer Gast!
Ach, mein Schatz ist lange fort
und mein Kränzlein hängt verdorrt
an dem dürren Ast.
