Es schweigt der Wald, es schweigt das Thal:
Die Vögel schlafen allzumal,
Sogar die Blume nicket ein,
Und schlummert bis zum Tag hinein. 

Schon rieselt nieder kühler Thau
Auf Halm und Blatt im Feld und Au,
Im Laube spielet frische Luft,
Und Blüth' und Blume [spendet] duft. 

Der Abendstern mit [güldnem]2 Schein
Blickt in die stille Welt hinein,
