Wiegenlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Schliess' du deine Äugelein,
Lass sie wie zwei Knospen sein,
Morgen wenn der Tag erglüht,
Sind die Rosen auch erblüht!

Und die Blumen seh' ich an,
Und die Äuglein küss' ich dann,
Und der Mutter Herz vergisst,
Dass es draussen Frühling ist.

Träume sanft von Engelein,
Die dich singend schlummern ein,
Halten an der Wiege Wacht,
Flüstern leise gute Nacht.

Sterne schau'n in's Kämmerlein,
Blüthen düften süss herein.
Mög' im lieben Herzelein
Immer heit'rer Frühling sein!

Note: the first two stanzas are variants of the second and third stanzas of a poem by Hoffmann von Fallersleben. The author of the rest has not yet been identified.
