by Feodor Franz Ludwig Löwe (1816 - 1890)

Der Schreiner
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich baute dir den stillen Schrein
Und legte dich in duft'ge Spähne;
Jetzt schlag ich stumm die Nägel ein--
Zu jedem Nagel eine Thräne.

O Gott, wie jeder Hammerschlag
Mich schmerzt, als ober dich verwunde!
Mir ist, als ob von diesem Tag
Mein trautes Herz nicht mehr gesunde.

Sie tragen dich nun bald zur Ruh
Mit Glockenton und bittern Zähren.
O legten sie mich gleich dazu,
Es kann ja doch nicht lange währen!
