by Johann Heinrich Julius Frauenstein (1815 - 1880)

Du, Gottes heiligste Kapelle
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du, Gottes heiligste Kapelle,
Sei mir gegrüßt, du schöner Wald,
Darin so feierlich und helle
Der freien Sänger Loblied schallt,

Sie haben lichtwärts sich geschwungen
Voll von der Gottesliebe all',
Und preisen ihn mit tausend Zungen
Von allen Wipfeln überall.

O wie ergreift des Waldes Sprache
Die Seele doch so wunderbar,
Mag's Flüstern sein, wehmüth'ge Klage,
Mag's sein wie Donners Brausen gar!

Und alles Volk in allen Landen
Es kniet anbetend, aber stumm,
Denn jedes Herz hat wohl verstanden
Dies heil'ge Evangelium.
