The timely admonition
Language: English
So sweet was young Damon, so gentle his look,
New pleasure my fancy insensibly took,
His voice too like music oft dwells in my ear,
But little I thought any danger was near.

He pressed my hand hard, but it gave me no pain,
He kissed and I sighed till he kissed me again,
Such balmy sweet touches what maiden could fear,
I never more dreamt any danger was near.

Hi hands on my bosom he’d carelessly lay,
And swear all the while he meant nothing but play;
So I let him play on till no more I could bear,
Till then I ne’er dreamt any danger was near.

Such toying and playing so stole on my heart.
I found in his transports my bosom took part.
Beware then ye virgins, if Damon appear,
For prudence comes late when your danger’s so near.
