Ihn, den ich liebe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ihn, den ich liebe,
Kann ich nicht nennen;
[Darf]1 meine Liebe
Nimmer bekennen.
Ach, nur im Traume
Ist er mir nah,
Er, den ich liebe,
Seit ich ihn sah.
Aja! -- Aja! -- Aja!

Weiß, daß er nimmer
Denket an mich,
Er, den ja keine
Liebet wie ich.
Bin schon so glücklich,
Wenn er mir nah,
Er, den ich liebe,
Seit ich ihn sah.
Aja! -- Aja! -- Aja!

Hunger und Noth
[Würd']2 ich freudig ertragen,
Ohne zu murren
[Und ohne]3 zu klagen,
Wüßt ich gewiß,
Daß immer mir nah
Er, den ich liebe,
Seit ich ihn sah.
Aja! -- Aja! -- Aja!

Confirmed with Westermanns illustrierte deutsche Monatshefte, ein Familienbuch. Sechsunddreissigster Jahrgang, zweiundsiebzigster Band, Braunschweig: George Westermann, 1892. This is an excerpt of a longer poem. The excerpt appeared in a critical review by journalist Otto Müller, page 564, possibly the origin of the sung text.
