by Georges de Porto-Riche (1849 - 1930)

On dit que je suis changé
Language: French (Français)
On dit que je suis changé,
Ma figure est enlaidie.
On me demande si j'ai
Quelque grave maladie.

Des cheveux blancs superflus
Osent pousser sur ma tempe,
Le grand jour ne me va plus,
Et j'ai besoin de la lampe.

Des chagrins que je me fais
Beaucoup de rides sont nées,
Et je sens passer la faix
De mes trente sept années.

J'ai perdu cet air vainqueur,
Dont plus d'une fut charmée ;
Je n'ai rien que mon seul cœur
Pour plaire à la seule aimée.

Mais ce cœur a tressailli,
Il faut que je la connaisse ...
Comme vous m'avez vieilli
En me rendant ma jeunesse !
