Sonnenwende

Zur [Sunnwend']1 war im Forsthaus Tanz, 
Die Jäger jauchzten und lachten,
Von Alben kamen die Mägdlein im Kranz, 
Die eichenen Dielen krachten.

Und jubelnd klangen die hellen Schalmei'n, 
Das tönte und glitzert' und sprühte,
Da zogen sie dich in den Reigen hinein,
Bis dir das Antlitz erglühte.

Die sonnigen Tage sind längst dahin,
Und alles Grün ist zu Ende,
Dir aber klingt es noch immer im Sinn,
Dein Herz hielt Sonnenwende!
