Accepta doncs aquestes cançons que jo, estimada, et cantava, torna-les a cantar els vespres amb el dolç so del llaüt. Quan la vermellor del capvespre s’estén vers el tranquil llac blau i els seus darrers raigs s’extingeixen darrere els cims d’aquelles muntanyes; i quan tu cantes el jo t’havia cantat, tot el que del fons del pit em sortia, sense ostentació artificiosa, conscient només del desig ardent: llavors, amb aquestes cançons, desapareix el que tan temps ens havia separat i un cor que estima aconsegueix el que un cor enamorat li havia promès.
