Abendlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Abendläuten tönt durch's Thal
Von dem Thurme nieder,
Und der Glocke heller Schall
Klingt im Echo wieder.
In das Herz kommt Abendruh,
Töne, Glöcklein, immer zu.

Sonne will im fernen West
Schon zur Ruhe sinken.
In des Sonnenlichtes Rest
Waldesgipfel blinken.
Sonne sinket nun zur Ruh,
Glöcklein läutet bang dazu.

Heil'ge Schauer fühlt das Herz
Bei des Abends Schweigen,
Im Gebete himmelwärts
Fromme Wünsche steigen.
Drum, o Herz, auch bete du,
Glöcklein tönet fromm dazu.

Confirmed with Ost- und Westpreußischer Musen-Almanach, ed. by E. Jacobi, J. H. Jacobson und A. Lehmann, Marienwerder: H. Jacoby's Buchhandlung, 1856, pages 102 - 103.
